CODE rings

CODE rings are an exercise in working between digital and physical; paremetric modeling in Grasshopper and the randomness of sand casting. I started with an alphanumerical code containing a written message, and input this into the node editor to algorithmically generate a 3D shape. Rings were then 3D printed before being sand cast and finished. I’ve generated several different codes, with correspondingly different geometries. I enjoy the contrast between the highly controlled way of working within Grasshopper and the organic, random, and fickle way of working with sand and silver. This is an ongoing project.
